Michael’s formal education and professional background is in Civil Engineering. After an unfortunate motorbike accident in 2003, a knee reconstruction opened Michael’s eyes to the world of rehabilitation, health and fitness. At his most indulgent, tipping the scales at 118kg, Michael decided to focus on his personal health, and started about a new lifestyle based on more exercise and healthier eating. 18 months later, at 91kg, Michael decided that a sea change was in order, and after gaining the appropriate certification, started life as a Personal Trainer. 7 years later, in late 2010, Michael and good friend and colleague Aaron Callaghan proudly opened the doors to Primal Fitness, which had been in the planning stages for nearly 2 years.
Michael’s passions are understanding the challenges involved with making change, and also working with people of all ages and fitness levels. His experience ranges from junior soccer and cricket coaching, through to post-operative rehabilitation of ages 16-65, and all facets of general population health and wellness in between. Some highlights of his personal training are helping clients stop blood pressure/cholesterol medication, successfully rehab back, knee and shoulder operations, help clients lose 100’s of kgs in bodyfat, build muscle and strength. His work with senior sporting teams has been centred around injury prevention, increased power and performance.
Michael’s systems of coaching clients and teams consist of gaining a comprehensive understanding of the fitness and wellness needs, wants and desires of all of his clients.
